Notification

The Datatron Notification System is designed to notify remote users of any Alarm or Warning events.

There are four (4) methods of Notifying Users in the Datatron Notification System.

Message Centers

The Message Center(s), or Scrolling Marquee Display(s), are used for local audio and visual display of Alarm and Warning events.  Each Message Center can display all Alarm and Warning events or only a selected group of Alarm and Warning events.  The Message Center will display valuable information about the event as well as a User configurable Contact Name and Number for each event.

Notification via the Message Center(s) need to be configured in the following sections:

Configure Message Center Contact:

Configure Channels:

Assign a Message Center and Message Center Contact to each Channel

Configure System Settings:

Note:

Message Center(s) with an Address of 1 are considered "Broadcast" and will display All Alarm and Warning Events

Email

An Email Message can be sent to notify the User(s) of Alarm and Warning events.

Notification via Email needs to be configured in the following sections:

User's Email Address:

The User's Email Address can be configured on the Create User or Update User pages

Notification List:

Enable / Disable Email Notification for each User in the List

Notification Schedule:

Configure System Settings:

Note:

The Email Notification does not allow a response from the User

Text Message

A Text Message can be sent to notify the User(s) of Alarm and Warning events.  Text Messages are sent via Email.  Please refer to your cell phone carrier for instructions on sending text messages to your cell phone via email.

Notification via Text Message needs to be configured in the following sections:

User's Text Message Address:

The User's Text Message Address can be configured on the Create User or Update User pages

Notification List:

Enable / Disable Text Message Notification for each User in the List

Notification Schedule:

Phone System

A Phone Call can be made to notify the User(s) of Alarm and Warning events.  The Datatron Phone System is an Interactive System which allows the User(s) to respond to Alarm and Warning events.

The Phone System provides a method for:

-  Contacting a user

-  Verifying that an authorized individual has answered the phone

-  Accepting a valid response to the call

-  Identifying the responding User in the system’s Audit Trail

Once the Call has been answered, an introduction message will be played instructing the User to enter their User Code.  The User Code is a 4 digit alphanumeric code that can be configured on the Create User or Update User pages.  The introduction message will be similar to the following:

"This is your Datatron calling. Please enter your user code followed by the pound key."

The User will then have three (3) attempts to enter their valid User Code.  If the User does not enter their valid User Code within a reasonable amount of time or the User exceeds three (3) Invalid User Code entries, the Call will be disconnected and the Datatron will record that there was No Acknowledgement for the Call. The Notification System will then proceed to the next User on the Notification List.

If the User enters a valid User Code the Instruction Message will play:

"At any time press "Y" to acknowledge all alarms or press "N" to not acknowledge the alarms. Press "1" to repeat the alarms. Press "7" to acknowledge all alarms and to disable future calls for these alarms."

After the Instruction Message has played, the Alarm Message will play. Once the Alarm Message has begun playing, the Phone System will look for a Valid Response to the call:

-  Negative Acknowledgement (NACK)

Press the "6" or "N" key on the Phone

-  Acknowledgement (ACK)

Press the "9" or "Y" key on the Phone

-  Acknowledgement plus Stop Calls

Press the "7" or "S" key on the Phone

If after a reasonable amount of time there has been no Valid Response from the User, the Call will be disconnected and the Datatron will record that there was No Acknowledgement for the Call. The Notification System will then proceed to the next User on the Notification List.

If the User enters a Valid Response the Call will be disconnected and the Datatron will record the Entered Response for the Call.  The Alarm(s) for this call will be flagged as completed and no further Notification will be necessary for the Alarm(s) unless the following is true:

- The Notification Schedule is set to Call All

- A Secondary Alarm occurs

The Phone System needs to be configured in the following sections:

User's Phone Numbers:

The User's Phone Numbers can be configured on the Create User or Update User pages.  Each User can have up to three (3) Phone Numbers, designated as Work Phone, Cell Phone and Home Phone

Notification List:

Configure which Phone or Phones to call and in what order for each User on the list

Notification Schedule:

The Notification Schedule provides a method of assigning a Notification List to be used based upon a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week grid

Configure System Settings:

Enable or Disable the Phone System. This only affects the Phone System and not Email or Text Message

Note:

The Phone System is automatically disabled if there is a problem with the Phone Device.  Make sure that you test the Phone System periodically and correct any problems with the Phone Device before Enabling the Phone System
